Katie O’Brien
Katie O’Brien is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Assumption University, specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Child and Family Interventions.
Although experienced in working with all ages, Katie remembers how challenging, and at times, scary, it can be to be in college or just graduating and taking that next step. Many of her young adult clients feel overwhelmed by racing thoughts and worries about their futures. Others feel burnt out, like they’re going through the motions while life passes them by.
Katie works together with college students and new adults to manage a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, life stress (school, family, relationships) and trauma, that keep her clients from feeling fulfilled and enjoying their lives.
She begins by providing a safe, comfortable space for new adults to be themselves, while tailoring treatment to the individual client she is working with. Pulling from a variety of evidence based therapies, including cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and relaxation training, and solutions focused modalities, Katie also helps clients build on their unique strengths, in order to help them live healthier, more balanced lives.
